While 2021 was a very good year for most in the ag industry, it was not without more challenges than I can ever remember in the same year.
With the strong commodity prices throughout the year, ag sales remained very strong. That would typically be cause for celebration, but it is tempered by the fact it could have been even better. The availability of raw steel and purchased items (cylinders, PTO’s etc.) was a constant battle the entire year.
Hiring new team members became a challenge throughout the year as well as trying to keep current team members healthy. As if that wasn’t enough, spiraling steel prices also became a daily battle. And then there were shipping costs that seemingly increased by the day as well.
With all of that happening, because of the team efforts here, a great dealer group we work with, and some very understanding and patient customers, things did come together for a really good year. So, goodbye to 2021 as we look forward to 2022. Many of 2021 challenges do not appear to be going away anytime soon, so they will be dealt with in much the same way as in 2021 as we attempt to have another good year.
While every industry in this country had all the same challenges, the advantage we have is the great people that make up the ag industry.
Thank you, good luck with your 2022, and we will see you soon!
